I have to admit I read this article on my blackberry, in dribs and drabs, standing in line at stores.

This is more or less exactly why I want to buy an old vt220/vt320 dec terminal. Having two monitors is really attention draining.

Reading a single article over the course of several line-standing episodes sounds like a peculiarly long span of attention to me, if it makes sense to speak of attention that can be backgrounded or dormant.

If I could have read the same article on Firefox, then yes. But on Firefox, there is tabbing. And with tabbing, comes temptation. And with temptation, distraction. And with distraction, suffering.
