So why is it so remarkable that Dutch women feel the same way?

It's interesting. Many women I know who do work make mention of having some of "their own" money. My family's money is not my husband's because he earns it any more than our family's house is mine because I clean it. We each have duties and tasks that we perform to maintain and improve our family's life. (This train of thought was triggered by the statement regarding women's "financial independence".)
In all, I think that women who wish to be corporate ladder-climbers should be limited only by their talents and willingness to work, but I'm with the Dutch women, myself.
